Lesson: Tumor Treatment Volumes
Below are the definitions of the Volumes per the ICRU 50 & 62. PTV PTV (Planning Target Volume) – The PTV “is a geometrical concept and is defined to select appropriate beam sizes and beam arrangements, taking into consideration the net effect of all the possible geometrical variations and inaccuracies, in order to ensure that the prescribed dose is actually delivered to the CTV.” (Note that “geometric variations” can include possible set-up errors.)
